Afternoon Tea and a WIP!
I very recently finished my Afternoon Tea Shawl:
It only took me a little over a month to knit, and much of that was during my daily commute. It was part of a Knit-a-Long in the LSG group on Ravelry, that "officially" started on April 15 but many people started early (and I started late, at the beginning of June). I had a couple of screw ups, one at the beginning of the pattern, which caused me to frog and start over, and one much, much later in the pattern, which made me say "fuck it" and keep knitting. Oh, it's there, but not totally visible. I hope.
I also have a WIP to show off:
I'm still working on that ruffle, which I can take on the train (the blanket was just too big to knit on the T). I fell in love with this pattern when I saw it at WEBS in February, and really wanted to cast on right away for my step-daughter's baby. I was a little nervous about the gender, however, since it's all ruffly and such, so I held off on purchasing the pattern or the yarn until after I learned how babby was formed.
As of today, the blanket is a WIP but the recipient is a FO.
YES, IT'S TRUE! I'M A STEP-GRANDMA!!!!!
I get to meet little Lilah today after work, and she (and her mom and dad) will get to see at least a partially finished project from me. Her due date was yesterday, and I was going to start worrying that perhaps she was waiting for her blanket to be done to be born.
I have already made her a couple of things this year, such as this hat and bootie set:
I also made some leg warmers, which Creech was happy to model for me:
I think those need a matching hat. I think I have enough yarn for that.
I've got a few other things planned. There has been a special request for a Chicken Viking Hat, which I started to knit but it was in some old Red Heart Super Saver that made my hands feel like they had the clap.
I've bookmarked several pages in several knitting books and magazines. For the most part, I'm going to try to make 6 months-and-older things because babies grow so fast and she already has an overflowing closet of newborn clothes.
By the way, thanks for not mentioning that I hadn't blogged in a few months. ;)
