Ugh, what landlady isn't a nutjob. Actually I shouldn't say that because my new one is pretty cool. My last one was PSYCHO!
Good luck. I'm way down south in Fall River so that's out of my neighborhood, but DEFINITELY check Craig's List. I've found a few places through there, and most places take photos which is really cool.

If you don't mind a commute of a little less than an hour, Attleboro and Mansfield are on the Commuter Rail, and it goes straight into Back Bay!
